February 24, 2020Justin Bieber Discusses Mental Health
Justin Bieber’s mental health struggles have been present for several years, but he has been open about these struggles.
Back in 2018, a paparazzi photo spread across the internet of Bieber sitting on a bench with his wife, Hailey Bieber, crying with his head in his hands.
Justin says, "I remember just struggling. I remember feeling, like, emotionally just overwhelmed and talking to her, not knowing how to communicate certain things and just feeling kind of frustrated. There has been a lot of things that have happened in my life and this was a point in my life where I was just like, so overwhelmed... being a normal person and crying."
Some people think that celebrities don’t deal with the same things that regular people deal with, but that is far from the truth. That picture of Justin Bieber crying on a bench lead to comments from fans asking why he was upset. Justin says, “It’s like, they don’t give me permission to be upset. I don’t have permission to be human and shed tears, and there are so many people every day who are in a conversation with their girl or their wife or their mom and they break down, but they don’t have cameras capturing it.”
Justin Bieber’s Mental Health Management
One thing that seems to help Justin Bieber’s mental health is that he uses a stress-management technique that is called “Havening”. Justin Bieber’s health coach uses it. She says, “Havening is a psychosensory technique that actually raises the feel-good chemicals in your brain on demand. The way Justin does this is that he rubs his head and face, but everyone has their own way to self-soothe.”
We are glad that Justin is doing well and that he has found a technique that helps with his mental health. Many people hesitate to seek treatment due to fear of judgment, but you don’t have to. A brighter future is waiting for you. You just have to take the first step.
