August 25, 2020Lili Reinhart Opens Up About Her Depression
Riverdale star Lili Reinhart is opening up about her depression and how Covid-19 is affecting her mental health.
In a recent Zoom interview with Refinery 29, Lili says she first moved to LA at the age of 16 where she lived with other struggling young actors. Lili Reinhart’s anxiety got so bad that she was actually throwing up every night. Thankfully, her hard work was well worth it as 3 years later she landed the role as Betty Cooper on CW’s Riverdale. Though she became a success on the show, Lili continued to struggle with her mental health. Over the past 4 years being on the show, she hasn’t had time to process and reflect on her mental health, that is, until now.
Lili Reinhart’s Mental Health During Covid-19
Once the coronavirus lockdown started, the world basically stopped. During this time, many are struggling with their mental health and experiencing coronavirus anxiety. Lili explains how some may turn to drinking and drugs to cope, but she decided to “face her own pain head-on”. Lili went on to say, “The last couple of months have probably been the most emotional few months of my entire life”. She said that at one point, her depression got so bad that she felt that she was “in a black tunnel that was never going to end”. Thankfully, Lili is continuing to work with her therapist to recovery from this all.
On how she’s using the lockdown time to reflect, Lili says, “I very much have looked inward and really worked on myself and I can feel myself having grown a lot. Even just the way I’m thinking is different and I’m less judgmental and I’m more open to meeting new people. I’ve gone out of my way to try to better myself as a human being. “
