Mental Health Telehealth Services

Banyan Mental Health is a facility that prioritizes the health, safety, and needs of our patients.

Our experience in treating mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and more have equipped us to create the best form of treatment plans for our patients. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, many individuals who have received mental health treatment have suffered greatly from the isolation promoted by quarantine. Although these restrictions were placed with the intention to keep everyone in the nation safe, individuals recovering from mental illness have missed out on much-needed care. In addition, mental illness relapse is possible in those who fail to continue their treatment or are overwhelmed by other triggering factors. To help those who are in recovery from a mental disorder continue progressing no matter what, we’re offering telehealth mental health services at Banyan.

Telehealth Meaning

Regarding telehealth for mental health, this is a form of care offered to patients recovering from mental illness through online resources like phones or the internet. Telehealth is technological care that allows patients to receive treatment for their disorders from the comfort and safety of their homes. The purpose of telemedicine is to give patients an additional option to continue their treatment plans and prevent them from discontinuing their treatment. COVID-19 is one of the many factors contributing to a lack of mental health treatment in those who need it the most. Many individuals are too busy to commute to our Banyan mental health facility in Boca or don’t want their privacy to be compromised by seeking in-person care. Because we want each of our patients to feel comfortable coming to us with their concerns and receive the mental health treatment they require, we’re offering our own telehealth mental health services at Banyan.

Pros of Telehealth for Mental Health

Like individuals with substance use disorders, people recovering from mental illness often benefit from additional support outside of rehab. However, recent restrictions with COVID-19 have made it difficult for individuals in recovery to keep up with their treatment plans on their own. The lack of guidance is detrimental for many, and the isolation caused by quarantine and other pandemic restrictions have contributed to worsening symptoms of conditions such as depression and anxiety. Fortunately, our telehealth services for mental illness can help.

Some benefits of telehealth services for mental health include:

  • Patient privacy: Many myths, misconceptions, and prejudices surrounding mental illness make it difficult for individuals with these conditions to be open about their struggles. Sometimes the idea of going to treatment in person can be intimidating to those who are accustomed to keeping their symptoms to themselves. We want to open that line of communication and make patients feel comfortable speaking to us by offering online mental health services.
  • Instant access to mental health treatment: Our online treatment for mental illness also offers patients immediate access to our services. The barrier of making appointments or having a far commute to treatment can make it difficult for patients to carry on with our mental health programs in Boca. A long commute can also discourage anyone from carrying out their plans, and the same applies to people in mental health treatment. By offering online services, we mitigate the risk of patients avoiding treatment due to commuting, and we can reach patients quicker.
  • Access to care for patients who can’t commute: Our online services make it easy for patients to keep up with their treatment in the safety and comfort of their homes. Primarily due to recent COVID-19 restrictions, we’ve combined telehealth and mental health treatment to ensure that patients who can’t commute still get the help they need. As previously mentioned, commuting a far distance for anything is discouraging and can often result in a change of plans. We want to remove that inconvenience for those who wish to continue their treatment plans but don’t want to drive or fly a far distance.

Most importantly, our telehealth mental health services at Banyan allow us to reach more people. Traveling and mental illness symptoms are two of the main reasons why individuals with depression, anxiety, or other disorders prefer to stay in the comfort of their homes. By providing our patients with online treatment options, we can ensure that they always have the resources they need to recover.

Our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Mental Health

Banyan Mental Health’s virtual intensive outpatient program allows patients to continue their treatment plans at any place and any time. We offer our virtual IOP to patients who are receiving mental health treatment at our facility. In addition to mental health programs, we also can provide co-occurring disorder treatment to help patients suffering from both an addiction and mental illness. Our telehealth services at our Boca mental health facility include three hours of intensive treatment each day for three days a week. Patients and their therapists will also schedule one hour of virtual individual therapy per week to keep track of their progress.

All of our online sessions will be conducted through Zoom. A completely free app, Zoom is easy to access on various devices. All patients need to do to use this app is have internet access (WiFi) and to download the app to a smartphone, tablet, computer, or laptop that has audio and a camera. During online therapy sessions, patients should be alone. No one else should be able to see, hear, or take part in these sessions. It’s imperative that patients also follow their schedules and contact their therapists ahead of time if they cannot attend a session.

Whether you need online or in-person treatment for depression or any other condition, we can help. Contact our team today for more information about our telehealth services for mental health treatment and our residential mental health program in Boca Raton.
